Additional Notes on Other Courses

Many facilities in Broward County are private or require membership and are not generally considered public golf courses (e.g., Hollywood Beach Golf Resort, Bonaventure Golf Club, Colony West Country Club, Pembroke Lakes, etc.) unless they have daily-fee tee times available through third-party booking services; always check with the course directly.

Some small or executive courses (e.g., municipal 9-hole layouts) may also exist, but the ones above are the most commonly recognized public playable golf courses in the county.

  • Twilight or late afternoon rates can be significantly cheaper at most facilities, especially Davie and Plantation Preserve.
  • Resident discounts often apply — bring proof if booking at that rate.
  • For the best overall experience at a Broward daily-fee course with quality design and conditioning, Jacaranda and Plantation Preserve tend to be highlights, though they cost more than county muni courses.

Handicap-Based Ranking

Using the best objective difficulty measures of course rating and slope, plus green-fee schedules where available.

How to read this quickly

  • Slope (113 = average). Higher = tougher for bogey golfers.
  • Course Rating (scratch golfer expected score). Higher = tougher overall.

If you’re a beginner / high handicap (approximately 25+)

Goal: Keep it fun and avoid forced carries and high-slope setups.

Best picks

  1. Oriole Golf Club (Margate) – most forgiving overall
    Rating/Slope: about 69.6 / 116
Typical rates: about $70 weekday / $80 weekend before noon, then lower later in the day
Why it fits: lower slope = less punishing for misses.
  2. Pompano Beach Golf Club – Palms Course
    Rates (effective Nov 1, 2025): 18 holes with cart $55 resident / $65 non-resident (before 2 PM)
Why it fits: Palms is the more playable option at this facility.
  3. Davie Golf Club
Rating/Slope (men): up to 70.6 / 135 from the back tees
    Public rates: $67 Mon–Thu / $77 Fri–Sun & holidays (opening–2 PM); twilight and super twilight are cheaper
Tip: play forward tees here until it feels comfortable.

If you’re a mid-handicap (approximately 15–24)

Goal: A real test, but not “ball-lost every hole” hard.

Best picks

  1. Plantation Preserve
    Rating/Slope: up to 73.6 / 129
Rates: Florida residents example pricing at about $115 weekday / $125 weekend before 1 PM
Why it fits: challenging, but not as severe as the hardest setups.
  2. Pompano Beach – Pines Course
    Rating/Slope: 74.3 / 130
    Rates: 18 holes with cart about $75 resident / $95 non-resident (before 2 PM)
Why it fits: legit slope and length test at a municipal rate.
  3. Davie Golf Club
Why it fits: strong posted rates, especially twilight, and a good “learn to score” course if you choose the right tees.

If you’re a low handicap (approximately 0–14)

Goal: Maximum strategy, penalty for misses, and true championship feel.

Best picks

  1. Jacaranda Golf Club — East Course
    Rating/Slope: up to 75.5 / 133
Why it fits: a true championship-caliber setup.
  2. Jacaranda — West Course
    Rating/Slope: up to 72.8 / 130
Why it fits: still tough, often slightly less brutal than the East from the tips.
    High season public pricing: before 1 PM listed around $129 Mon–Thu / $149 Fri–Sun.
  3. Deer Creek Golf Club
    Rating/Slope: up to 75.3 / 139
    Rates starting Dec. 19, 2025: Mon–Fri $160.75, weekends/holidays $175.70, after 3 PM $50.47
