Highland Beach

 

Highland Beach, in Palm Beach County, is quaint and almost smacks of a Bahamas / Bermuda-like setting with its architecture. It is stretched out along 2.8 miles of gorgeous pristine oceanfront. Located between the cities of Delray Beach and Boca Raton, Highland Beach is a small, elegant residential community with a year-round population of under 3500 residents. The town’s “main street” is a lovely tree-lined portion of the ocean highway – A1A with the ocean to the east and the Intracoastal waterway on the west of A1A.

 

Highland Beach is presently enjoying a building boom with brand new luxury residences and condos that afford ocean and/or Intracoastal waterway views The Highland Beach A1A ocean highway drive is breathtaking with views of both the ocean and the Intracoastal waterway and lovely, sea birds, sea grapes, scented plumeria, and hibiscus. The roughly three-mile stretch of Highland Beach serves as a critical nesting ground for endangered sea turtles, which lay hundreds of eggs onshore each year from March through October.

 

Rich in history and beautiful real estate, Highland Beach was once the home of the Caloosa Indian tribe. In the 1500-1600s, pirates and buccaneers made Highland Beach their home. Here the living was easy; safety from storms and pursuit and easy access to plunder the gold-laden galleons of old Spain.

 

This community has many recreational opportunities to enjoy including acres of Ocean access, beautiful pristine white sugar sand beaches with swimming, and nature trails. Residents enjoy year-round tennis, golf, and boating. You are very near two nature parks (Gumbo Limbo and Spanish River Park) and a stone’s throw from chic downtown Delray Beach with fine dining and shops.
