The elegant Town of Hillsboro Beach is situated on a small peninsula north of Pompano Beach. Its only main road is Ocean Highway A1A. A luxurious enclave – filled with multi-million dollar homes along “Hillsboro Mile” and boats/yachts along its waterway Hillsboro Beach is understated quiet and exclusive.

 

This 3.2-mile-long town has no congestion and hardly any crime. And almost every one of the 1,761 residents lives within a short walk of the ocean. Hillsboro Beach is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Intracoastal Waterway on the west. Its greatest width is about 900 feet which affords one a simultaneous view of both the ocean and the Intracoastal waterway. The Hillsboro Lighthouse, completed in 1907, marks the northern end of the Florida Reef and this town.

 

Many residents here live in the most beautiful and expensive oceanfront homes in Broward County. The 60 single-family houses on the so-called “Millionaire’s Mile” pay an average of over $42,000 a year in property taxes. The property of many of these residents includes both the oceanfront and Intracoastal sides, with A1A affording a beautiful view of both. Most of the remaining residents live in affordable luxury condominiums.

 

Hillsboro Beach and Hillsboro Mile are indeed exquisite and unique given one sees both the ocean and Intracoastal waterway when driving on A1A.
