Delray Beach Rave reviews for this “foodie” hub

DELRAY BEACH RESTAURANTS HAVE SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE – JUST A FEW OF THE RESTAURANTS ARE PROFILED BELOW

DELRAY BEACH is establishing itself as a “foodie” hub. New spins on dining offer a wonderful blend of eclectic and fusion-focused restaurants. This excellence in dining plays itself out with Delray’s Restaurant Week; Garlic Festival and more. Yes, Delray is hot and happening with its tapas bars, oyster bars, lobster on the oceanfront, Thai, sushi coupled with some wine bars and boutique breweries like Saltwater Brewery. The open table and farm to table concepts are alive here. Stroll down Atlantic Avenue and you will see vibrant color in the restaurant designs, chic shops and in the people who come from all over the United States and abroad to experience Delray.

Dine inside or outside underneath a huge strangler fig tree. Diners also enjoy the jalepeno-agave glazed salmon with Mexican quinoa, grilled asparagus, cilantro crema, lime, chipotle aioli and fresh catch of the day

Brulé Bistro

Located in the Pineapple Grove Arts District, just off of Atlantic Ave, Brule Bistro is a favorite. They offer a brunch menu with tapas and salads including: Crispy Broccoli with Hummus, Curry, Smoked Sea Salt, Chipotle Aioli; Tuna Poke with Cilantro, Serrano, Soy, Ginger, Avocado, Cashew; The Brulé Burger with a Short Rib & Brisket Blend, Aged Cheddar, Portobello, Arugula, Tomato, Tarragon Aioli, House Brioche, Fries. Try their smoked fish dip & chicken and cornbread waffles topped with.

Tucked away just a few blocks off Atlantic Avenue in the Pineapple Grove Arts District, Brulé Bistro is one of the first meals I eat after landing. I always order their crispy broccoli with hummus and smoked fish dip, but my absolute favorite is the chicken and waffles (cornbread waffles, to be specific), served with cheddar, bacon, a chipotle aioli, and plenty of maple syrup.

Papa's Tapas

259 NE 2nd Avenue

A wonderful restaurant on 2nd Avenue in the Pineapple Grove District. They are famous for their refreshing red sangria, ham croquets and garbanzo beans in a very peppery pisto sauce. Their Valenciana Paella is delicious and has mussels, shrimp, scallops and clams. Do visit them for Happy Hour!

Café Luna Rosa

34 South Ocean Blvd

Great spot across from the ocean. Exceptionally flavorful dishes & professional wait staff offering epicurean service. Delightful experience with tableside filleting of whole fish presentation. Great selective wine menu. Now offering fixed price wine dinners with courses. Menu items include: the most outrageous eggs benedict; colossal shrimp stuffed with lump crab meat; seared crab cakes with lobster sauce; orange bang bang shrimp; eggplant rollatini to name a few. This restaurant which has won many awards and is a favorite, is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

El Camino

15 NE 2nd Ave

In the heart of Pineapple Grove. Everything including sauces and tortillas is made from scratch. Excellent & complex dishes like: Chile relleno Calabacitas with tomato, corn, salsa, colorada & crema; tamales with braised pork & red sauce and cream; crispy fish tacos; carne asada; shrimp burritos.  Lots of beer and cocktail choices…

Saltwater Brewery

1701 W Atlantic Ave

Saltwater Brewery is Delray’s first microbrewery and the owners are friends of my two sons. They offer special-release beers and seasonal beers and people very much enjoy the tasting room. Their flagship beer is an IPA called Screamin Reels. Other offerings include: The Statement - a dark-fleshed cherry which originated in Hungary; Passion Pit, a light and refreshing golden ale brewed with passion fruit. Saltwater gives back through ocean based charities (CCA, Surfrider, Ocean Foundation, MOTE Marine Labs). They further use eco six- pack rings which are compostable & degrade naturally when left in water.

Elisabetta’s Ristorante

32 E. Atlantic Ave

This wonderful Italian restaurant opened July 24, 2019. It’s located on Atlantic Ave. All of Elisabetta's pasta, bread, gelati, pastries & cookies are made in house daily.

The chef is Lisabet Summa, its namesake and she is very particular about her pastas and offerings. For her it is the meticulous care put into each dish which is most important like the Mafaldine Pasta ribbons which old a hearty amatriciana sauce or the Puttanesca Pasta which features a rich herbed sauce deepened with Sicilian ingredients including pistachios and mild white anchovies. Begin your dinner with Sicilian Olives and Provolone with orange, thyme, peppercorn, chilis.  Delicious!

There are both short and long pasta dishes with creative plays on ingredients like Linguine Nere with shrimp, yellow tomatoes, calabrian chilis and mint. The restaurant has a selection of house- cured meats which make their salumi boards outrageously delicious.

City Oyster & Sushi Bar

213 E. Atlantic Ave

City Oyster is a favorite Delray spot for seafood and just drinks. Outdoor dining and striking black and white interior décor. Fresh seafood is delivered and prepared daily. Diners will find a full sushi bar and a rotating selection of fresh oysters from the East and West Coast. Dishes include Lobster Bisque, Smoked Fish Dip, Maine lobster rolls, fish tacos, Thai noodles, chilled lobster with remoulade, cold seafood platters, yellowtail snapper with salsa verde and more.

Oceano Kitchen

201 E Ocean Ave, Lantana, FL 33462

Oceano Kitchen is a very casual neighborhood restaurant run by husband and wife team, Jeremy & Cindy Bearman. Oceano receives accolades from all who have discovered it. Both Jeremy and Cindy and their chefs have incredible restaurant backgrounds. Jeremy was part of the opening of Daniel Boulud’s Bistro Moderne in NYC where he worked his way up to the position of Executive Sous Chef. Cindy Bearman’ background is equally spectacular having worked at the Gothem Bar & Grill, DB Bistro Moderne, Café Boulud and Le Cirque. She worked with Chef Bradley Ogden, a pioneer of the “farm to table” movement in Las Vegas where she cultivated the skills of using well-sourced and sustainable ingredients. Upon returning to NYC, she was the pastry chef at Jean-Georges’ ABC Kitchen and was the food editor for Martha Stewart Living and Weddings.

Each morning a new dinner menu is created inspired by what local farmers, fishermen and food purveyors have available. This is a very small restaurant and it is a cash only restaurant. It is worth the adventure and they have an ATM machine.

DECK 84

840 E Atlantic Ave, Delíay Beach, ÏL 33483

Whether you arrive by boat, car or bike, you will love this casual restaurant on the intracoastal waterway. The Baja Fish Tacos, Signature Mahi - Mahi, and Special Blend Deck Burgers are delishous and so are the cocktails.
